  75. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  76.

  81. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  82.  
  83.     A.  Deliver materials in original sealed containers, clearly
  84.         marked with manufacturer's name, type of material, and
  85.         batch number.

  87.     B.  Inspect the materials upon delivery to assure that
  88.         specified products have been received.

  90.     C.  Protect materials from the elements.  Keep in original
  91.         unopened container to prevent contamination by foreign
  92.         materials.

  101. 2.1 MANUFACTURERS

  115. 2.2 MATERIALS
  116. NOTE ** Select pigmented coating in paragraph below if
  117.         coloration is required for the project.  Color-Lok
  118.         is a permanent coating of acrylic resins,
  119.         ultraviolet light absorbers, surfactants, and
  120.         emulsifiers that allows moisture vapor to escape.
  121.  
  122.     A.  Pigmented Coating:  Rainguard "Color-Lok" or "Tec-Top."
  123. NOTE ** Select graffiti-resistant coatings from two
  124.         paragraphs below.  Vandl-Guard is a chemically-
  125.         resistant, one-part, water-based, cross-linked co-
  126.         polymer that dries to a clear, colorless film.  It
  127.         can be applied to the bare substrate or over Color-
  128.         Lok or Tec-Top.
  129. NOTE **
  130. NOTE ** Vandl-Top is a one-part, water-based, cross-linked
  131.         co-polymer sacrificial emulsion.  When applied as a
  132.         top coat, it dries to a clear, colorless film
  133.         without increasing flammability of the substrate or
  134.         supporting the growth of mildew, bacteria, or
  135.         fungus.  It can be applied only over Color-Lok, Tec-
  136.         Top, Vandl-Guard, or bare substrate.

  138.     B.   Graffiti-Resistant Coating:  Rainguard "Vandl-Guard."

  143. PART 3  EXECUTION
  144.  
  145. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  146.  
  147.     A.  Verify that surfaces to be coated are in proper
  148.         condition.
  149.         1.  New masonry and cement plaster:  Cured 30 days before
  150.             application.
  151.         2.  Painted or coated surfaces:  Cured 30 days before
  152.             application.
  153.         3.  Substrate moisture content:  No higher than 15
  154.             percent as registered on an electronic moisture
  155.             meter.
  156.  
  157.     B.  Verify that surfaces are structurally sound.
  158.  
  159. 3.2 PREPARATION
  160.  
  161.     A.  Thoroughly clean substrates of foreign substances, such
  162.         as dust, dirt, grime, oils, scale, rust, silicones,
  163.         curing compounds, alkali, acid residues, and other
  164.         foreign matter.
  165.  
  166.     B.  Protect work of other trades against damage by coating
  167.         and finish work.
  168.  
  169. 3.3 APPLICATION
  170.  
  171.     A.  Apply materials in not less than the number of coats and
  172.         coverage rates as recommended in manufacturer's technical
  173.         data sheets.
  174.  
  175.     B.  Apply materials when substrate surface temperature is
  176.         between 45 and 90 degrees F (7 and 32 degrees C).  Do not
  177.         apply in direct sunlight.
  178.  
  179.     C.  Allow each coating to dry and cure before applying
  180.         subsequent coats.
  181.  
  182.     D.  Achieve a uniform pinhole free, continuous film when
  183.         applying graffiti-resistant coatings.

  185. 3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
  186.  
  187.     A.  Manufacturer's Representative shall inspect all coated
  188.         surfaces after work is complete to verify proper
  189.         application.
  190.  
  191. 3.5 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
  192.  
  193.     A.  If damage occurs, immediately make all repairs and
  194.         replacements necessary at no additional cost to Owner.
  195.  
  196.     B.  During process of work, remove discarded coating
  197.         materials, rubbish, cans, and rags at end of each
  198.         workday.
  199.  
  200.     C.  Correct any damage by cleaning, repairing or replacing,
  201.         and recoating, as acceptable to Architect.
